What is the funding approval process?

The approval process for Britam foundation funding depends on the type of initiative for which the funds are requested for but must remain within the CSR framework already in force. The process will be as below:

Step one- Self-screening and pre-evaluation: Applicants complete an Eligibility Questionnaire to assess their eligibility for funding and or support, along with a Project Scorecard to assess the potential score of their application. This step is optional but strongly encouraged.

Step two- Application review: The Foundation committee will review all the applications and categorize them according to their needs. The committee will work with the applicants to gather any missing information within the established timelines.

Step three- Independent review: The foundation will escalate the proposals to an independent committee who will review and conduct background checks on the need for such support/funding. This will include reviewing projects which may be initiated by the foundation.

Step four- Funding/support recommendation: Each month, the foundation committee reviews and compares applications that have been independently reviewed and have undergone credibility assessment. There are some factors to be considered while making their recommendation, such as:

- Availability of funds and time

- Scope as per CSR framework

- The score given by the foundation committee and the independent team.

Step five- Approval and notification: Britam Foundation Committee (BFC) approves funding/support applications on the recommendation of the teams reviewing, conditional on satisfactory due diligence conducted by the Independent team and on contract signature. The marketing team notifies successful applicants of the outcome and required next steps. There is need to note that only the best and deserving projects will be supported. The Foundation will reserve the right to partially fund/support projects.

Who approves?

The Foundation will constitute a committee headed by the Foundation Director which will analyze the need and highlight the worthy cause to be funded.

Approval limits will be based on the CSR policy in force.
