Britam Donates Shs15 Million to COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund

Britam Holdings Plc has today contributed Shs15 Million towards the Government’s efforts to contain the spread and impact of COVID-19 in Kenya. The money has been channeled through the recently formed COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund.

Thursday 30^th April, Nairobi: Diversified financial services Group, Britam Holdings Plc has today contributed Shs15 Million towards the Government’s efforts to contain the spread and impact of COVID-19 in Kenya. The money has been channeled through the recently formed COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund.

 

Britam’s donation follows the Government’s appeal to individuals, corporate entities, development partners and multinational institutions to support the Covid-19 Emergency Response Fund, formed to spearhead mobilization of resources for emergency response towards containing the spread, effects and impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

In his remarks, the company’s Group Managing Director, Dr. Benson Wairegi applauded the Fund for its efforts in mobilizing resources to contain the spread of the virus and also alleviate the detrimental effects of the pandemic on the lives of Kenyans and the economy.

 

He also said, “As an organization, we recognize that the fight against this pandemic cannot be won by the Government alone but requires the support of all Kenyans including corporate entities, development partners and multinational institutions. In view of this, as a corporate citizen, we are happy to support the President’s call to unite in containing the pandemic that continues to impact our society. We believe that our contribution will go a long way in supporting the purchase of critical medical supplies and cushioning   vulnerable households from the socio-economic impacts of the coronavirus pandemic”.

 

The financial contribution is in addition to the other measures that Britam has taken to support customers and other stakeholders against the impact of coronavirus. These initiatives include donation of sanitizers, gloves, masks, disinfectants and food items to vulnerable members of the community.
