Home Based Care For Little Cab Customers
Britam has launched a telemedicine COVID-19 home based care service for the customers of Little, a ride hailing and technology company. As the economy reopens, this service aims to exponentially expand health care support for those infected by the virus in Kenya by providing access to more than half a million Little users.
Britam currently insures hundreds of rides daily on Little with its digital accidental trip insurance that protects riders against hospitalization, disability, and ambulance expenses. Now Britam is introducing a telemedicine based value-added-service to the existing and new customers of this product. If a rider tests positive for COVID-19 within 10 days of the last trip, Britam will provide home based care to the rider through its Telemedicine services. The care package comprises the provision of medical kits and essential medicines, tele-consultations with a doctor and nurse, nutritionist and mental health consultation.
Speaking during the launch, Dr. Benson Wairegi, Britam’s Group Managing Director, said, “With millions of smartphone users in Kenya, Britam is betting on digital channels and partnerships to increase insurance penetration. Earlier this year, we launched telemedicine services to deliver health care using mobile phones. Our partnership with Little has seen thousands of customers digitally enrolled on the accidental insurance product. Now as the economy reopens, we want to build on our digital experience and expand health care support to these customers by providing them with access to home care treatment in case of Covid-19 infection.”
The value added service is only available to the customers who have subscribed to Britam’s accidental trip insurance on Little. The service will only provide access to home based care and will not include hospital related expenses.
Little and Craft Silicon Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kamal Budhabhatti, said that, “Little is committed to deliver high customer value through our portfolio of diverse services. Protection against COVID-19 and treatment for those infected are the most relevant needs for everyone at this time. We have taken a number of steps to ensure a safe ride to our customers and this collaboration with Britam will expand our safety proposition. By leveraging our technology platforms, we have made the enrollment process to this product really easy as customers can enroll with a click on the Little APP.”
